1951 Alpine Trial

The second of the post-war Alpine Trials was organised by the Light Car Club and held on December 1st and 2nd.

Directed by Bill Leech and Bill Hicks, the event attracted 31 starters and 17 finishers.

The event started late on the Saturday afternoon so ran through South Gippsland and up the then gravel Omeo Highway in darkness. With dawn arriving at the sub-event at Omeo Valley,it was daylight all the way through to the finish at Narbethong.

Overall winners were again Owen John and Ern Abbott in a Riley 2.5.
