The Begonia Rally, organised by the Ballarat Light Car Club, was held in March in conjunction with the Ballarat Begonia Festival.
The event was won by Neil Everett and Colin Ward in a Holden, the only crew to cleansheet the event. Everett had gained notoriety in 1952 when he successfully applied to defer military training due to the demands of working on his father’s farm.
