The Pound Motors Trial was directed by Mike Flanagan for the VW Car Club. According to a report in Australian Motor Sports, the event was won by the three man Crew of Keith Gable, Ian Johnston and Brice Ford in a Datsun Bluebird.

The event was conducted generally to the north-west of Melbourne taking in areas including the Wombat and Creswick Forests before heading further north into the goldfields areas around Dunolly, returning to Melbourne via Lockwood, Bayton and Bolinda.
