1963 Victorian Trials Championship

We have limited information on the 1963 VTC but it was won jointly by Harry Firth / Graham Hoinville and Frank Kilfoyle / Mike Flanagan, Firth ran a Ford Anglia in the first part of the year before upgrading to a Cortina while Kilfoyle ran a Falcon XM.

Series Regulations

There were no specific restrictions on the kinds of events that could be rounds of the VTC. All events were timed to the minute, but there were virtually no tied placings. Most events had a significant degree of navigation.

Only the outright award was given. Points were awarded 30-27-24-21-18-15-12-9-6-3 for first to tenth with the best five of seven results to count.

Events

As we don’t have a full calendar, we are unsure of which events made up the 1963 VTC. One article suggested that there were only four rounds. Our best guess is as follows:

  1. Caltex Begonia Trial
  2. Akademos Trial
  3. Experts Trial
  4. Otway Trial
  5. Cec Warren Memorial Trial
  6. Shell Two Day Trial
  7. Alpine Trial
