The Night Trial, organised by the Melbourne University Car Club, was held on July 24.
The club event attracted 27 entrants who found lost of wet and slippery roads, some resorting to the fitment of chains. Navigation was quite demanding with many crews missing passage controls.
Winners were Bob and Beau Simpson in a VW 1200.

The 150 mile event started at Warrandyte and went via Christmas Hills and Gruyere to a supper break at Yarra Junction with the second half heading south through the Beenak Forest and on to Upper Beaconsfield and Officer.
