1967 Akademos Trial

The (Akademos Trial, organised by the Melbourne University Car Club, was probably held in June.

1967 VTC Round 3 – Akademos Trial to Holden

The 1967 Akademos ran in a different area to usual, starting in Gisborne and using the Wombat Forest and then heading westwards to a break at Beaufort. The second division utilised Mount Cole and the third division headed back towards Melbourne. Another unusual feature was that points were dropped at one per minute on the first division, two per minute on the second and three per minute on the third and final division.

Holdens placed first, third and fourth with Ron Phillips and Jim McAuliffe victorious, while the Cortina of the Vaughan brothers split the Holden in second place.

Subsequent to the Racing Car News article, Jackman/Johnson’s score was adjusted as it was established that they had not missed an information. They were elevated to fifth place.
