1967 Cooper Memorial Trial

The 1967 Cooper Memorial Trial, organised by the Western District Car Club, was held on November 11.

1967 VTC Final Round – Cooper Memorial Trial

The Cooper Memorial was directed by John  Hall and Bruce Wookey. Conducted in daylight, which by 1967 was unusual, the event started at Ballan and went via Creswick, Ballarat and Mount Cole forests to an overnight stop in Stawell. On Sunday the event headed into the Grampians then back through Beaufort and the forests south of Ballarat.

With the 1967 VTC navigator’s title still up for grabs, it was fitting that Ian and Roger Vaughan won the event, giving Roger the coveted Victorian Trials Championship for navigators. Prior to the event, the title could also be won by Mike Osborne and Peter Haas, but Lunn/Osborne finished sixth and Roberts/Haas seventh.
