The Goldfields, organised by the Renault Car Club of Victoria, was an Open trial held on 7 September. It was held in the forests around Maryborough.
Director, Warwick Smith, designed the event as a driver’s delight, being “fully route charted” event.
Winners were George Fury and Monty Suffern in their Datsun 180BSSS on 34 points. Second were Peter Stapleton / Bernard Lakerink (44) in a Cortina with John Armitage ‘ Jeff Beaumont third (47).
