The Amateur Trial was held on 17 July 1976.
The 1976 Amateur Trial was directed by Stawell resident, Rex Leitch, for the Car Club of RMIT. It comprised a mixture of route charted and navigational section in the forests to the north of Avoca. Peter Evans and Chris Maniatakis secured a narrow victory in their Datsun 1600 to take a commanding lead in the 1976 TAUCC series.
