The Akademos was held on May 28.
VCS Round 6 – 1977 MUCC Akademos Rally
Directed by George Davidson for the Melbourne University Car Club, the 77 Akademos ran in its traditional area north of Stratford and Bairnsdale. Conditions were wet and slippery, presenting challenges for the drivers. 28 cars started the event with 17 finishing.
Despite the conditions, there were relatively few offs, with Freemantle and Spring hitting a tree during the first division and the Boyd’s off the road in their Datsun 1600 on the second division. But it was Graham Trounce who mastered the condition best and emerged winner with navigator Lloyd Minifie.
