The Rally of the Rising Sun, organised by the Datsun Car Club of Australia, was held on 12 April.

The event was conducted in the popular Heathcote forests. The cartoon on the cover page refers to well known rally supporter and competitor, Jim Maude. The Maudes ran the general store in Tooborac.
