The Ready Plan Rally, organised by the Chrysler Owners Car Club, was held on Monday 9 March (a public holiday).
Originally calendared as “Invitation rally”, this was an Open status special stage rally held in Central Gippsland but not part of any series. The style of this event was totally different to the long distance 1978 Ready Plan Rally run by CCRMIT in NW Victoria and SW New South Wales.
First outright and first in grade 2 were John and Simon Birrell in a Valiant Galant. Second were Warwick Smith and Janiene Kilfoyle in a Lancer and third (and first in grade 3) were M Dunn & P Godson.
