The Summer Safari, sponsored by Regan Motors and organised by the Peugeot Car Club of Victoria, was held on 14 February.
VTC Round 1 – 1981 PCCV Summer Safari
First blood to Portman and Runnalls
The trial was directed by Graham Wallis and was the first round of the 1981 newly commenced Victorian Trials Championship.
Graham’s post-event summary included:
We feel we set and event that met the guidelines for the new series i.e. a fair amount of work for both driver and navigator, whilst keeping both in a sane state of mind!
A couple of our intended navigational traps were unfortunately obliterated by the Forest Commission grader only a few days prior to the event, and a couple of roads were extremely dusty after recent fire vehicle activity after recent bad bushfires in the region. The first information in the 10th section (L) has been deleted due to the “P” board being nicked.
Apart from the above, we were happy with the running of the event, and if you thought it was too easy, please remember it was not intended to start the series with an “Experts”.
