The Experts, sponsored by Dales of Heathcote and organised by the Light Car Club of Australia, was held on 15 May.
1982 VTC Round 4 – LCCA Dales of Heathcote Experts Trial
As the name suggests, the Experts was always a difficult trial from a navigational perspective. It was conducted in the forests around Heathcote and this year it was round 4 of the Victorian Trials Championship. The director was Jim Maude, assisted by Bruce Keys, Frank Grant and John Blanchard Jnr with Ian Richards as course checker.

Despite Bill Bennett and Stuart Lister leading at the end of section 7, their retirement on section 8 again left the outstanding duo of Geoff Portman and Ross Runnalls to comfortably win the event with a loss of 80 points. Following them were Doug Fernie and Warwick Smith on 172, Brian Smith and Peter Mignot on 206, Steve Mitchell/David McKenzie (224), Nick Ellis/Tony Best(233) and Chris Wall/Trevor Boyd (379).
