The Akademos tends to attract extreme weather and 1983 was no exception, with the August date being postponed to December. Directed by Peter Otzen, the event ran in the traditional central Gippsland area.
A dramatic final round win to David Officer and Kate Hobson gave them the 1983 Championship! Both their championship rivals faltered, with Portman suffering gearbox failure and David Adams engine problems.
