VTS Round 5 – 1984 CCRMIT George Derrick Memorial Trial
Three years earlier, Ross Runnalls sent 42 crews off from Horsham at midnight on a cold August Friday night to embark on a Wimmera-Mallee adventure that was the 1981 George Derrick Memorial Trial.
Even then the Runnalls follow up event was brewing and was to be similar but different as could be imagined.
This time it was an 11pm start from Traralgon into three events in one weekend using sandy tracks across coastal plains, little used mountain and rainforest roads and a maize of slippery NSW pine plantation tracks.
What followed was a fabulously well run event visiting far flung and engrossing country.
