The Begonia, organised by the Ballarat Light Car Club, was held on March 2nd.
1985 VRC Round 1 – BLCC Peter Stevens Nissan Begonia Rally
Directed by Bruce Campbell, the traditional Begonia Rally was a fully daylight affair utilising the Creswick and Daylesford forests.
As the first round of the VRC, Hugh Bell and Steve Ellis made their intention clear by blitzing the field, winning by a massive 5 minute margin from Brian Smith and John Birrell in their Sigma. Another standout performance was Rowan Quill, a Clubman (Grade 3) driver with experienced navigator Paul Paterson calling the way, placing a fantastic third outright.
