The Alpine Rally was held on 28 & 29 March. With the Light Car Club, the event was left without an organising club. Simon Brown, as Director, took over as the Promoter and assumed financial responsibility for the event.
Round 1 Australian Rally Championship
Round 2 Victorian Rally Championship
The VRC event was a subset of the ARC event but crews could nominate for points in the ARC, VRC or both (see the Entry List). VRC only crews did not compete on the Sunday (Special Stages 18 to 27).
The ARC round was won by Rob Herridge and Mark Nelson, whilst the VRC component was won by Graham Alexander and David Stewart, who also finished second in the ARC event.
In addition to the modern event the Historic Alpine Rally was conducted in parallel and shared some of the ARC/VRC stages. See separate entry for the 1992 Historic Alpine.
