1995 Victorian Rally Championship

It was again a somewhat unusual VRC season with only four rounds, two in March & April then a six month gap to two in October and November. Reigning champion, Graeme Wise, would be challenged by the up and coming Cody Crocker, who took out the first round with Wise only fourth with new co-driver, Danny Murphy. Wise and Murphy took the second round but Crocker and Foletta were second to maintain their points lead. When Wise and new co-driver, Rob Beekman won the North Eastern, and Crocker/Foletta failed to score, the championship looked good for Wise with one round remaining. Wise and Beekman won that final round to confirm the title for Wise although Crocker’s third place gave Foletta the co-driver’s title.

Despite two good results from Scott Pedder, Michael Cameron easily won the Novice Award with his co-driver, Peter Howgate, taking the Novice co-driver’s award despite not entering the fourth round.

Series Regulations

These were specified in the VRC Standing Regulation, assumed to be the same as the previous year, but it appears Group N classes were expanded.

The VRC was made up exclusively of Special Stage events.

Eligible vehicles were PRC and Group N.

Awards were made for outright champions and Novice. There were also car class awards as follows: PRC 2WD up to 1300cc, PRC 2WD 1301-1600cc, PRC 2WD 1601-2000cc, PRC 2WD over 2000cc, PRC 4WD, Group N 2WD under 1300cc, Group N 1301-1600cc, Group N 1601-2000cc, Group N 2WD over 2000cc, Group N 4WD and Formula Commodore (a sub-class of PRC).

Outright and Novice points were allocated 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 for first to  tenth. Class points were allocated 9-6-4-3-2-1. With only four events, competitors counted all results. Series Registration was introduced in 1994 and only registered competitors were eligible for points. However, bona fide Victorian competitors were automatically recognised as registered! Class awards required competitors to compete in at least 50% of the events.
