The Challenge of Clubs, organised by the Nissan Car Club of Australia, was held on 30 and 31 March 1996.
As the name says, the event was a competition between invited clubs and comprised three components, a rally, an autocross and a motorkhana. The invited clubs in 1996 were MMAL, HRA and BLCC.
The winning club was MMAL with 714.65 points, only 0.75 points ahead of BLCC. The champion male competitor was Richard Gay and the champion female competitor Rachel Bruty. Best for each club were Rachel Bruty (BLCC), Steve Marron (MMAL), Graham Wallis (HRA) and Richard Gay (NCCA).
