The NGK Rally of Melbourne was held on October 2-3.

Australian Rally Championship Round 6

Victorian Rally Championship Rounds 3

The ARC Round was won by Cody Crocker and Greg Foletta in the Subaru, with a win on Heat 1 and second on Heat 2, giving them their second consecutive national title. Chris Atkinson with Ben Atkinson was second overall, placing third on Heat 1 and winning Heat 2. This was the year before Atkinson joined the Subaru WRC team. Dean Herridge and Glenn McNeall were third overall, placing second on Heat 1 and third on Heat 2, completing an all Subaru podium.

The VRC round was won by Peter and Chris Montgomery, also in a Subaru, but it was a close tussle with only 22 seconds covering the top five, four of whom were then all but equal on championship points with one round to go.
