Highlights

The Victorian Rally Championship was won for the second consecutive year by Peter Fyfe and Gerry Bashford in their Nissan Pulsar GTi-R 4WD Turbo. 

As competitor numbers were slowly declining, it had become more difficult for even the series run between a number of clubs to each attract sufficient competitors to remain viable. So this year saw the creation of the Victorian Club Rally Series from the amalgamation of a number of inter-club series. Australian Rally Championship

Victoria’s round of the Australian Rally Championship was the Alpine Rally.

Series

Victorian Rally Championship

VRC events this year were the Begonia, Alpine, Akademos, North Eastern and Rising Sun.

Outright Champions: Peter Fyfe / Gerry Bashford, Nissan Pulsar GTI-R

Novice Award: Greg Plumridge / Roger Virgo, Toyota Corolla GT

Victorian Trials Series

The Victorian Trials Series, previously called the Victorian Trials Championship originally had 5 rounds calendared: the George Derrick Memorial Trial, the Yulunga Trial, the Borderland Safari, the Experts Trial and the William Harvey Memorial Trial. Various cancellations saw the series reduced to just the two events for 1992.

The scheduled Experts Trial was postponed due to the death of director Jim Maude but ran later in the year under the stewardship of Geoff Byron and Stuart Lister and re-name the Jim Maude Memorial Experts Trial.

Victorian Club Rally Series

This series of club level events effectively replaced the TAUCC, Combine 6 and Group 5 series. This was the first year of the VCRS and there were 7 events. The MMAL Safari and the Bog-a-Duck were cancelled.

A TAUCC Award was made to members of the original four TAUCC clubs across rounds 1, 3 and 7.
