Australian Rally Championship

Victoria’s round of the Australian Rally Championship was again the Rally of Melbourne.

Series

Victorian Rally Championship

VRC events in 1998 were the Rally in the Valley, Strzelecki Stages, Goulburner, Rally of Melbourne, North Eastern and Begonia.

Outright champions: Craig Morris / Jenny Cole, Mitsubishi Galant VR4

Novice award: Steve Poole / Matthew Birchall, Subaru Legacy RS-R

Victorian Club Rally Series

There were 5 VCRS events this year. The final round, the Cooper Memorial Trial, was cancelled and the Spring 200 postponed to the Cooper’s date, but it was then also cancelled.

  1. Bog-A-Duck Trial – Results in Feb Unicar, revised results in May Unicar
  2. Mount Alexander Trial – Results in May Unicar
  3. Rivertown Trial – Results in Aug Unicar
  4. George Derrick Memorial Trial – Results in Sep Unicar
  5. Nissan Nightmoves – Results in Nov Unicar

Supposed final points in Dec Unicar.

Robson Cup Rally Series

The Western Region Trial Series morphed into the Robson Cup. Events:

  3. WDCC Trial
  4. Lock Exhaust & Autogas Trial
