The first of three Mobilgas events (this one was called a Trial, 1957 was called a Rally) was the officially CAMS sanctioned “round Australia” trial for 1956, in the wake of the previous REDex Trials.
There were 83 starters, with a number of entrants disallowed by CAMS after their licenes were cancelled for competing in the Ampol Trial the previous month.
