Start: Melbourne, Wednesday August 21st 1957
Finish: Melbourne, Sunday September 8th 1957
The second Mobilgas round Australia circumnavigated the continent in a clockwise direction. It was the only round Australia event sanctioned by CAMS in 1957. It was called a “Rally” because it was intended to include speed tests such as hillclimbs but CAMS would not allow this with many drivers not having full competition licences.
There were 88 starters. Volkswagens were prolific and dominated the results, filling the top six place, with Laurie Whitehead and Kevin Young declared winners.
