The Penfold Motors Trial, organised by the Renault Car Club of Victoria, was held on March 13.
This open restricted event was conducted in the Powelltown area and was convincingly won by John Dixon and Chris Jessup in a Ford Escort on 17 points. Geoff Lawson and Tony Walsham were a distant second in their Mazda R100 on 79 points with Helmut Goetz and Bain Simpson third in a Datsun 1600 on 90 points.
Two of the Kays Renault Team entered but were ineligible for awards. Bob Watson and Andy Chapman dropped 9 points with Roger Bonhomme and Geoff Thomas on 12, both in R10 Gordinis.
