This year again promised be a tussle between the Nissan and Ford works teams. With Ford’s support waning, the Escort started to lack some reliability and Carr had a disappointing year. Bond nevertheless placed well in every round and would finish the series in second. Nissan were also not without their difficulties also, with a number of mechanical issues resulting in non-finishes. But the Datsun Stanzas won all five rounds, shared Dunkerton and Portman with one win each, and Fury with three wins to take the title.
