The Shamateur 1, organised by the Light Car Club of Australia, was held on 15 March. The Shamateurs were club events.
The winners were R Mason and G A Lewis in a Torana. Second were John Rawson/David Fiddyment and third Stephen Allen/Paul McBean. In grade 4, David Lowe and John Blanchard were the winners in a Gemini with Ken Cusack/Brian Kealy second and Stuart Lister/Frank Grant third.
