The Blue Ribbon Rally, organised by the Light Car Club of Australia, was held on March 28.
VRC Round 3 – LCCA Blue Ribbon Rally to Portman/Runnalls
Directed by Bruce Keys, the Blue Ribbon Rally comprised nine daylight and seven night special stages in the Reef Hills and Strathbogies forests.
Portman and Runnalls took their second win of the 1981 VRC, by a margin of over 5 minutes as other fancied crews struck problems. Mike Dunn and Peter Godson put in a fine performance to finish second as well as first Clubman, just 15 seconds clear of Alex and Jan Fitcher in third.
