The Rich River Rally, organised by the Car Club of RMIT, was held on May 23.
1981 VRC Round 4 – Rich River Rally – Portman Runnalls again!
Following the successful 1980 George Derrick Memorial Rally run in the Murray River forests out of Echuca, the CCRMIT undertook to repeat the concept under the name of the Rich River Rally. This was as a result of the George Derrick reverting to its “trial” heritage for 1981 as a round of the Victorian Trials Championship.
The event was directed by Simon Brown and comprised thirteen special stages.
Portman/Runnalls dominated again, winning by almost 5 minutes from Officer/Hobson.
