The Shamateur 2, organised by the Light Car Club, was held on 7 August. The Shamateurs were designed as introductory events for novice crews but also allowed graded crews to compete. They weren’t a round of any series but were open to invited clubs including MMALCC, M850C, FFCC, CRBCC, CCRMIT and NCCA.
The outright winners were R Comport and Helen Lister in a Galant on 23 points. Second were Michael Morrissey and S Trembath in a Datsun 1600 on 33 points and third S Bennington/Ron Jay in a Datsun 1200 on 38 points. Grade 4 was won by Morrissey/Trembath with Tom Porritt/M Silins in an Isuzu Bellett second and B Hutchinson/D Bird in a Honda third.
