The Pathfinder, organised by the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club, was held on 30 June. It was Round 3 of the Group 5 Series.
The winners were Stuart and Helen Lister in a Lancer, with but 6 of the other starters driving Datsuns. Second were Patrick and Des Ryan with Trevor Woods and Alan Campbell third, both crews in Datsun 1600s. First grade 4 was Robert Lucas and Ian Beaupeurt.
