The Safari Rally, organised by the MMAL Car Club, was held on 27 September.
The Safari was a round of the Group 5 series. It was directed by Col Hardinge with assistance from Rob Davis, Murray Brown and Tom Scott. The winners were Ron King and Bryce Norton in a “Dazda” with Trevor Woods/Daryl Williams and Geoff Maguire/Patrick Casey equal second.
