1987 Akademos Rally

The Akademos Rally, organised by the Melbourne University Car Club and sponsored by Marsh Seats, was held on May 23. Directed by Peter Otzen, the event was based out of Bairnsdale but used stages to the north and east of Bruthen.

Victorian Rally Championship Round 3

A blown motor for championship leaders, Geoff Portman and Peter Gale, opened the door for Grant Walker and Denis O’Brien to take a timely win in their Escort. They ended up over 5 minutes clear of second placed David Greig with Paul Tirant in the Datsun 1600.

The top PRC crew were again Graeme Gambold and Doug Guild in the Toyota, placing an impressive third outright.
