1988 Akademos Rally

The Akademos Rally, organised by the Melbourne university Car Club and directed by Michael Seidler, was held on October 29, having been postponed from its traditional May date.

Victorian Rally Championship Round 4

David Greig and Paul Tairant all but sealed the VRC with their win in the Akademos, their second win on the trot, but with the fairly open three category scoring system, nothing could be assured with one round to go. Geoff Portman found form in the PRC RX-7 with Robin Smalley calling the turns, to finish second, just over a minute adrift.

Some photos appeared in the MUCC Unicar Magazine.

Route

The 1988 Akademos was based out of Bruthen but used areas well to the north with a mid event service at Omeo between the daylight and night stages.
