The Bayswater Wreckers Stages (formerly the Camcrsuher Rally), organised by the Ford Four Car Club, was held on April 23.
Victorian Rally Championship Round 1
Plans by CAMS to phase out Group G looked rather doubtful with the top eight places in the first round of the VRC going to Group G cars. The top five were Datsun 1600s with engines of varying sizes! Emerging as victors were Mike Reeves and David Proctor, 28 second clear of David Greig and Paul Tirant. Tony Cooper and Jill Sutton came in an excellent third and first Clubman. The top ten cars were separated by about two minutes, with 33 seconds covering fourth to tenth.
The top PRC car was the Ford Escort of Greg Hoinville and Michael Cains in tenth place.
Ross and Ashley Fraser took up the challenge of entering a car compliant with the new Clubman category and came in first in that category, and in ninth place.
