Problems struck the two leading crews in the VRC at the North Eastern, with neither Kendrick/Gottschalk or Johnson/Maude scoring any points. It was a breakthrough win for Peter Fyfe and Gerry Bashford in the Nissan Pulsar GTi-R, more than a minute clear of Neil Cuthbert and Daryl Adams in their Subaru RX Turbo with Bruce Robertson and Ian Enders a further minute back in their Celica GT-4.
