1992 Esanda International Rally of Canberra

The Esanda  International Rally of Canberra was held on November 20-22.

Australian Rally Championship Round 6

It was a dominant win at Rally of Canberra, and their second ARC round win, for Possum Bourne and Rodger Freeth in their Subaru Liberty, almost 11 minutes clear of locals, Neal Bates and Rod Horsley in the Celica. This confirmed Bourne and Freeth as runners-up in the 1992 ARC with champions Rob Herridge and Mark Nelson placing third in the event. Victorian Graham Alexander finished fourth to place third in the ARC points tally.

Route

The event began on Friday afternoon with five special stages totalling 40 km, two in Kowen and three around Cotter. Saturday was the longest day with 16 stages totalling almost 200 km, split between Stromlo, Cotter and Kowen, plus the tarmac special at the the Driver Training facility on Sutton Road. Sunday offered a bit over 100 km of stages in Stromlo and Cotter, with a finish at the now defunct Fraser Park raceway in Jerrabomberra.
