With a slim chance of taking the championship if Bates and Taylor faltered, Ed Ordynski and Mark Stacey took the win in Canberra in a Galant VR4. Neal Bates and Coral Taylor were a safe second, 3 minutes behind, taking out their first national title. Michael Guest and David Green completed the podium in their Lancer, over 8 minutes back.
