After an absence from the ARC in 1992, Tasmania returned to the series with the 500 Car Club’s Southern Safari Rally, held on October 23-24.
Neal Bates and Coral Taylor all but sealed this year’s ARC with victory in Tasmania in their Celica GT-four. Ed Ordynski and Mark Stacey took second in their Lancer, only 38 seconds adrift, to keep the championship alive with one round to go. Michel Guest and John Heath were a distant third in their Lancer.
