The Cooper, sponsored by Paul Loughnan Automotive and organised by the Western District Car Club, was held on 6 December. This event was the final round for 1997 of both the VCRS and the Robson Cup Rallye Series.
The winners were Mark Fawcett and Tony Boyd in a Galant VR4. In second place, only 3 seconds behind, were David Smart and Robin Smalley in a Datsun 1600. Third were Murray Rogers and Andrew McMaster in a Toyota Sprinter. First grade 4 were Andrew Hollole and Rob Hunter in a Commodore VH.
