Round 5 Victorian Rally Championship
Graham Alexander and David Stewart became the fifth different round winners across the five rounds so far of this year’s VRC. That almost put them within striking distance of the title, but the two main championship contenders, Phil Messer / Rachel Bruty and Craig Morris / Jenny Cole, finished third and fifth to set up a nail biting showdown on the final round. A fine performance by Brett Thomson and Rob Vanderee saw them place second only 29 seconds behind Alexander and Stewart while a great run by Danny Murphy and Ross Lilley secured them a well earned fourth place. Steve Poore and Mario Pirotta took a fabulous seventh to give Poore the Novice award with one round still to go.
