The Challenge of Clubs Trial, organised by the NCCA, was held on 20 March.
The trial was typically one component of a weekend of motorsport events pitting clubs against each other. We don’t have any details of any other components of the overall event.
The Trial winners were Ian and Roslyn Martin from NCCA in a Subaru Impreza WRX. They also won the event in 1998. Second were Stephen Richards (BLCC) and Ian Hutchesson (MMSC) in a Ford Escort, with Darryn Snooks (FFCC) and Ross Setford (NCCA) third in a Mitsubishi Lancer LA. Darryn and Ross were also the first Novice crew. First grade 4 crew and 8th outright were Stephen Dunbar and Delian Mills (both MSCC) in a Ford Escort RS2000.
