The Cooper Memorial Rally, organised by the Western District Car Club, was held on November 18.
Round 5 Victorian Rally Championsip
As the final round of the 2000 VRC, the Cooper Memorial would see a s showdown for all three awards, the Outright Victorian Champion, the 2WD Champion and the Novice award.
Needing a clear win to take the championship, Scott Pedder and Paul Humm did so by over a minute from their rivals, Brett Thomson and Rob Vanderee.
In the 2WD category, Darren Crozier bounced back from the disappointment of the North Eastern to win the category and the championship from rivals Murray Rogers and Ross Vanderee in the Toyota Sprinter. Vanderee would take the co-drivers championship because Crozier had teamed with a number of different co-drivers.
In the Novice grade as many as five crews were in the running for the award, and despite winning the grade, Warren Lee and Craig Miles would fall short of the overall award. That was taken by Barry and Natasha Rowe in the MGB, who had not had a grade win, but scored consistently on all rounds.
