Victorian Rally Championship Round 3

Victorian Club Rally Series Round 2 (Bog-a-Duck)

It was a welcome return to the VRC for the Akademos, which had not been conducted since 1993. Peter Otzen took the event to a new area, the Snobs – Blue Range area to the south of Thornton, which would become the new “home” for the Akademos. The event was a day-night affair, with five special stages during the day (one repeated) and three stages after dark (one repeated from the daylight). The VCRS round omitted the final stage.

VRC Round 2 winners, Mike Reeves and Robin Smalley, made it two wins on the trot in their Evo3. Benni and Paul Tirant were 32 seconds behind in a Subaru with Brett Thomson and Rob Vanderee third in their Galant. Will Orders and Matthew McAdam missed out on the podium by a mere 4 seconds. Brian Semmens and David Leoncini brough the 200SX home in sixth and first 2WD. Geoff Sefton and Tim Hill were first Novices in 13th place. The Tirants also won the VCRS round. Darryn Snooks and David Johns placed second on the VCRS round but left the road in their Evo1 on the final VRC stage and failed to finish.
