The Rally of Melbourne, organised by Victorian Rally Services, headed by Neil Cuthbert and Justin Hunt, was held on 5-6 October. Clerk of Course was Ross Tapper. This followed the tragic and untimely death of long time organiser, Glenn Cuthbert, in a water-skiing accident the previous year.
The event was run in two heats, the first 118.72km and the second 104.54km. Simon Evans and Sue Evans won Heat 1 and took second in Heat 2. Scott Pedder and Paul Humm took the win in Heat 2. The competition was incredibly fierce with less than a minute covering first to seventh on both heats.
