2007 East Gippsland Stages

The East Gippsland Stages was conducted by the Melbourne University Car Club and was held on May 5. This was the first East Gippsland Stages and a welcome addition to the VRC. Glen McAliece was Road Director and Peter Otzen Clerk of Course. The event was a blind rally conducted in both daylight and at night.

Victorian Rally Championship Round 2

Justin Dowel and Matt Lee were winners in their Lancer Evo 9 by close to a minute from Mark Fawcett and Simon Ellis in a Subaru WRX. Less than a minute separated second to fifth.

Route

The event started in Bairnsdale an had one stage in the forests to the north east before heading beyond Bruthen where the remaining stages were conducted in the forests north of Nowa Nowa. Five stages were in planned for the daylight with another four in darkness, mostly teh daylight stages in reverse. The short Smarts Break stages (one in each direction) was cancelled.
