The 2009 George Derrick Memorial Rally, organised by the Car Club of RMIT, was run on July 18 in the Avoca area, The Clerk of Course was Mike Twycross. It was a blind rally, i.e. no recce and no pace notes.

The VRC event was won by Mark Fawcett and Carrie Morris in their Subaru Impreza WRX, more than 2 minutes clear of Warren Lee and David Lethlean in a Lancer.
The VCRS Round was won by Andrew Bell and Ari Paterson in a Datsun Bluebird SSS.
