The Transcom Australia Rally, organised by the Bendigo Car Club, was held on 31 May. It was directed by Brian Semmens and was round 4 of the VCRS.
Demonstrating the advantage offered by four wheel drive, the winners were Craig Morris and Jenney Cole in a Galant VR4 and second were David Nutter and Stephen Dunbar in a Subaru WRX, only 1 second behind the winners. Third were Nick and Peter Whiteley in a Datsun 180B, 1 minute further back. David Nutter was also the first Grade 4 driver.
