2002 Presidents Sprint Rally

The Trax Kawasaki Presidents Sprint Rally, organised by the Car Club of RMIT and directed by Bernard Miron (who was indeed club President), was held on April 6.

Victorian Rally Championship Round 2

Perhaps as a sign of things to come, this “sprint rally” was one of the shortest VRC events so far, with only 65 km of competition, It attracted a good field of 33 starters and all by 6 finished. The event was conducted near Morwell.

As might be expected in a sprint rally, the results were close with less than a minute covering the first five places. 1997 Victorian champions, Mike Reeves and Robin Smalley (Evo3), came out on top by 12 seconds from Brett Thomson and Rob Vanderee (Galant) with Will Orders and Matthew McAdam completing an all Mitsubishi podium in their Evo1 a further 15 seconds back. Brian Semmens and David Leoncini were once again best of the 2WDs while a new name took first Novice, Warren Lee and Craig Miles in a Datsun 1600.
